Welcome to Ubuntu Permaculture Mission Inc.

Ubuntu Permaculture Mission Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving residents of Newark, New Jersey and its surrounding communities, with learning how to live and grow food sustainably through permaculture. Ubuntu comes from the Bantu people of Southern Africa and translates to “ I am because we are.” We believe it is our birthright to know how to grow our own food and have access to the land, resources, and community to do so.
Our mission is to improve the holistic well-being of urban and rural communities through permaculture education, green jobs creation, ecotourism, market access, and networking collaboration for organic farmers. We aim to promote the practice of sustainable lifestyles that care for the earth.
At Ubuntu Permaculture Mission Inc., our roots delve deeply into the rich soil of our core values: stewardship of the earth, care of people, fair share, integrity, hard work, and unyielding commitment to community, nourishing every endeavor with holistic growth and mutual respect.
Our vision is to establish ourselves as leading pioneers in
permaculture education.
